Threatening rain stayed away for the running of the 5th round of the Country Series which was held at the Buckley Park Raceway Hamilton.
One face noticeably missing was that of Mr Trevor Crane normally in charge of the series, but as word swept through the pits on Sunday, Trevor had just been appointed the new AKA President!
Midgets have proved to be very close racing at the country series with nearly every final being a nail biter. After finishing first place in round 4, Blake Graham is enjoying the top of the podium and stood on the 1st place block yet again this round. Jordan Rae came in 2nd, all the midgets have been extremely close all series and round 5 was no exception to the rule.
Rookies had speedster Jake Klien in first place, Ryan Broome from Mt Gambier in second place. Jake Dixon started off the front row until a short off track excursion dropped him back through the field. Great driving by Dixon enabled him to climb his way through the field to third place.
In the Junior divisions, Jordan Nicolaou was quick in Junior National Light. Aaron Johnstone is always great to watch in the Junior National Heavy and Junior Clubman, Anton de Pasquale with just twelve months of racing is always up front, and improving race to race.
The senior clubman classes saw Kimberly Johnstone have a fantastic weekend. Wayne Bourke from the Oakleigh club has been enjoying the podium throughout the series. Scotty McLaughlin has provided some top racing in the Clubman Light class through the series.
Smiles all round for first time country series racer's Dean Foster and Adam Willison in the Leopard Light class. Willison overjoyed with his first place. Ben Kilsby had a few problems which saw him finish off the podium for the first time in the series.
Dale Beaton had a great win in the Senior National Pro class. Mt Gambier's Glenn Henley took out first in the Clubman Over 40's with local driver Ken Lampard happy to finish on the podium at his home track.
